The bus does run fairly well after I adjusted the valves and did a major tune up.I also repaired an exhaust leak on one
of the head to heater box connections.I was lucky it was just a copper gasket. The compression readings were all even and normal, but
I know later I will have to rebuild .I just dont know how many miles I have on this engine and for a daily driver.
I just checked the oil the other day a found gas in the oil.and after some checking,it seems the carb.is leaking
gas down in the cylinders to the oil sump pan. It could be the fuel pump leaking fuel into the oil.Volkswagen type4 and some
aircooled engines have this problem when high miles have been put on the engine.
Yesterday, I took the carb off and rebuilt it using a new Progressive carb Holley/Weber kit.Looks like the needle
and seat were not working/seating correctly. Besides it was DIRTY.Later I will need to check the gas tank for dirt.
Getting a new mechanical fuel pump will be somewhat difficuilt due to the age of the bus.I can buy one BUT the price
is terrible,so I have deceided to go with the electric fuel pump system/and fuel regulator combo. New fuel lines and hoses
are also needed due to the age of the bus.
